It was a normal blank lantern from a Chinese store in Amsterdam. I painted it with colors, and wrote black line in between with the technique of Chinese calligraphy.

Rice paper is very thin, so there is no way to change. It requires one hundred percent concentration and full energy. That's also the beauty of Chinese art, I think.

When the light goes through, you can see the energy of the lines, and the rich effect of the colors. It shines like the stained glass in the church.
